Thermowax Choke Actuator
This component manages the automatic choke by using a wax-filled pellet that expands/contracts based on engine temperature. If the internal wax element fails or the pin becomes obstructed by thermal putty, the choke butterfly valve will not close when the engine is cold. This results in a lean fuel-air mixture that is insufficient for ignition in a cold combustion chamber.

Camshaft Assembly
The GCV200 engine has a known pattern failure where the mechanical decompression weight on the camshaft fails. This mechanism is designed to slightly open the exhaust valve during the compression stroke to reduce resistance for starting; when it fails, the engine may exhibit high-compression lock or fail to reach the rotational velocity required for the flywheel magnet to induce a spark.

Carburetor Assembly
Small-bore carburetors on the GCV200 are highly susceptible to ethanol-induced corrosion and varnish. Blockage in the pilot jet or the transition ports prevents the vacuum from drawing fuel into the venturi during the low-RPM start sequence, effectively starving the engine of the fuel needed for combustion despite having spark and compression.
