Jet Set, Pilot

The pilot jet (slow jet) regulates fuel delivery at low RPMs and idle; it has a microscopic orifice that is easily restricted by fuel varnish or debris. When restricted, the engine runs lean, causing the RPM to drop and triggering the stepper motor to aggressively open the throttle to prevent a stall. This creates the 'hunting' cycle, and replacing the jet set restores the correct air-fuel ratio at idle.

Carburetor Insulator Gasket

A failure in the gasket or a crack in the plastic insulator block allows 'unmetered air' to enter the intake tract behind the carburetor. This lean condition causes erratic engine behavior and surging because the carburetor cannot accurately meter the fuel for the extra air entering the system. Replacing the gasket ensures a vacuum-tight seal, which is critical for the stable operation of the EU series inverter engines.

Spark Plug BPR6ES

Frequent surging leads to inconsistent combustion temperatures and can cause the spark plug to become 'lean fouled' or heat-damaged. A compromised plug increases ignition resistance, which contributes to the stumbling that triggers the governor to surge. Replacing the plug is a necessary secondary step to ensure smooth ignition once the primary fuel delivery issue is corrected.
