Pump Lid O-Ring

The lid O-ring is the primary seal for the strainer basket area. If this seal becomes dry, cracked, or flattened (compression set), the pump will draw air instead of water, preventing the creation of the centrifugal vacuum necessary for priming. It is the most common single point of failure in the suction circuit.

Mechanical Shaft Seal

The shaft seal prevents water from leaking into the motor and air from being sucked into the pump volute along the motor shaft.
