Cooling Fan Motor Assembly
The F97 code is triggered when the control board's logic loop fails to receive a consistent RPM signal from the cooling fan's Hall effect sensor. This fan is responsible for forced convection cooling of the control compartment; if the motor windings fail or the bearings seize, the resulting lack of airflow poses a thermal risk to the PCB, causing the software to lock out the unit. Replacing the motor assembly restores the feedback loop to the ERC.

Electronic Range Control (ERC)
If the cooling fan is mechanically sound and spinning freely, the failure likely resides in the ERC's input processing circuit. Specifically, the logic gates responsible for interpreting the tachometer pulse from the fan may have suffered a component-level failure, rendering it unable to acknowledge the fan's operation.

Wiring Harness (Control to Fan)
High-heat environments can occasionally lead to terminal fretting or insulation breakdown in the wiring harness connecting the fan to the main board. A loss of continuity in the signal wire will result in an F97 error even if the fan and board are functional.
