Fresh Food Evaporator Fan Motor
This model uses a dedicated fan to pull air across the fresh food evaporator. In the GFE28 series, these motors often fail due to moisture-induced short circuits in the internal electronics. When the motor fails, cold air is not moved into the cabinet, causing the fresh food section to warm while the freezer remains cold.

Fresh Food Thermistor
The thermistor monitors the air temperature in the fresh food compartment and sends a resistance signal to the control board. If the thermistor's resistance drifts, it may signal that the compartment is colder than it actually is, preventing the control board from activating the cooling cycle for that zone.

Evaporator Cover and Damper Assembly
The rear panel assembly houses the fan and the air distribution channels. If the mechanical damper that regulates airflow is stuck closed or the insulation has become waterlogged and frozen, air cannot circulate through the tower, regardless of fan operation. Replacing the assembly ensures the airflow path is unobstructed.
