Evaporator Fan Motor
This is the most common failure point for 'whirring' or 'chirping' noises in GE French Door models. The motor bearings can fail prematurely, or frost buildup on the TwinChill evaporators can cause the fan blades to physically strike ice, creating a loud rhythmic noise. Replacing the motor or clearing the ice and checking the defrost circuit solves the root cause.

Condenser Fan Motor
Located at the bottom rear of the unit, this fan is prone to collecting debris or having the internal rubber air divider slip into the path of the blades. This creates a loud 'flapping' or 'knocking' sound. As a Senior Engineer, I look for obstructions here first if the noise is localized to the floor level at the back of the fridge.

Water Inlet Valve
Specific to models using the XWF filter, a rattling or buzzing sound lasting 5 seconds every hour indicates the isolation valve or inlet valve is vibrating against the cabinet.
