Water Inlet Valve

The most frequent cause of a 'frozen' ice maker in this model is a weeping solenoid. When the valve fails to seat completely, a tiny stream of water constantly trickles into the fill tube; because this tube is located in the freezer's airflow, the water freezes into a solid plug, eventually blocking all water flow to the maker.

Ice Maker Assembly

If the internal mold heater or the thermostat within the ice maker assembly fails, the unit will not initiate a harvest cycle. Water from subsequent fill cycles then pours over the existing frozen cubes, resulting in the entire assembly becoming a solid block of ice.

Water Filter (RPWFE)

GE valves require specific PSI to snap shut. A clogged filter reduces water pressure to the point where the water inlet valve cannot overcome internal spring tension to seal the diaphragm, leading to the 'weeping' effect that freezes the fill tube.
