Dryer Drive Belt
The drive belt is a multi-ribbed rubber loop that transfers torque from the motor pulley to the drum. Over time, heat-induced oxidation and mechanical fatigue cause the belt to crack and eventually snap under the load of wet laundry. When the belt fails, the motor may still operate, but the drum remains stationary due to the loss of physical coupling.

Dryer Thermal Fuse
This is a non-resettable thermal safety device designed to break the electrical circuit to the motor if the exhaust temperature exceeds a calibrated limit. If the dryer's airflow is restricted by lint buildup, the resulting heat spike melts the internal contact of the fuse. Once 'blown', the motor is effectively isolated from power, preventing the drum from initiating rotation.

Dryer Door Switch
The door switch is a primary safety interlock that prevents operation while the drum is accessible. If the internal leaf spring or copper contacts fail to complete the circuit when the door is closed, the system logic or motor circuit remains open. This results in a 'dead' start button response where the drum fails to turn.
