Detergent Dispenser Assembly

The most common failure mode in GE GDT series dispensers is the fatigue and eventual snapping of the plastic latching tab or the torsion spring. This prevents the door from staying closed or opening during the cycle. Because the housing is ultrasonically welded, the entire assembly must be replaced to restore proper mechanical function and water-tightness.

Dispenser Door Kit

If the 'broken' symptom is limited strictly to the sliding or flipping plastic cover being cracked or detached, a door-only kit can be used. This solves physical damage to the exterior plastic without requiring the removal of the inner door panel.

Detergent Dispenser Gasket

Mechanical failure of the dispenser door can sometimes be caused by a warped or degraded gasket that creates excessive friction or 'stiction,' preventing the spring from overcoming the seal's resistance. Replacing the gasket is necessary if the dispenser assembly is not seated flush against the inner door.
