Drain Pump

This is the primary mechanical component responsible for evacuating water. In GE models, the magnetic induction motor can fail electrically, or more commonly, the impeller becomes jammed by debris or stripped from the shaft, resulting in a 'humming' sound without water movement.

Drain Hose with Check Valve

The drain hose includes an integrated check valve designed to prevent backflow. If this valve becomes clogged with food waste or 'schmutz,' or if the rubber flap becomes distorted, it will physically block water from exiting the machine even if the pump is functional.

Fine Filter / Sump Cover

If the fine filter assembly is damaged or improperly seated, it allows large debris to enter the sump and jam the drain pump impeller. Replacing a compromised filter is necessary to prevent repeat failures of the drain pump.
