LCD Display and Touchscreen Digitizer Assembly
The ECHOMAP UHD series utilizes a capacitive touch interface that is factory-bonded to the LCD to prevent moisture ingress and parallax. Over time, exposure to high UV index and rapid thermal expansion/contraction in marine environments causes micro-fractures in the Indium Tin Oxide (ITO) traces or delamination of the adhesive bond. This disrupts the electrostatic field required for the touch controller to register inputs, rendering the screen unresponsive even if the display remains visible.
