On newer Evo Pro models with a single-hose reservoir design, the OPV discharge is routed into a 'Y-splitter' that leads to the drip tray. Installing a lower-pressure spring increases the volume of water diverted from the group head; without rerouting this flow directly back to the reservoir using a dedicated silicone hose and capping the Y-adapter, the increased backpressure often causes the internal plastic fittings to decouple or leak internally.

OPV Manifold Interface O-Ring

The OPV modification requires the removal of the valve assembly from the Ulka vibration pump. This interface relies on a specific EPDM O-ring for a high-pressure seal (capable of 15 bar); if this seal is pinched during reassembly or if the plastic threads of the OPV housing are not perfectly aligned, fluid will bypass the seal at the pump outlet during the brew cycle.

8.5mm Silicone Group Gasket

Lowering the brew pressure via an OPV mod often leads users to grind coffee finer to maintain extraction timing. This creates higher puck resistance and increased lateral pressure against the group head seal; an aging or improperly seated OEM rubber gasket will fail to maintain a seal against the portafilter ear under these new hydraulic conditions, resulting in an external leak during extraction.
