Input Jack Assembly
The 87V uses a single molded assembly containing split-contact banana jacks. Corrosion creates a conductive bridge between these split halves, causing the meter to misinterpret environmental moisture or oxidation as an inserted test lead. Replacing the entire assembly ensures proper galvanic isolation and restores the mechanical integrity of the solder lugs which are prone to fatigue and oxidation.
