Mode Selector Actuating Knob
The internal cam lobe on the underside of this knob interfaces with a shifting slide to toggle gear engagement. If the internal slide is fouled with dust or the gear teeth are slightly misaligned, the user exerts force that typically shears the plastic cam profile off the knob, making it impossible to move the internal shifting yoke. Replacing the knob restores the mechanical leverage required to actuate the mode change.
