High-velocity dust particles moving through non-conductive pathways generate significant static electricity; if this charge is not dissipated through an anti-static hose, it discharges into the control circuit, frying the microprocessors or the motor-drive triac. Replacing the main PCB is the standard industrial resolution to restore logic control and motor activation.

Motor Carbon Brush Set

As a secondary possibility, the motor's carbon brushes serve as the physical electrical contact to the commutator. Once these wear down to their minimum length, the circuit is physically interrupted, preventing the motor from spinning even if the electronics are sending power. However, modern CT units often signal a fault or exhibit 'surging' before total brush failure occurs.
