Rear Shock Absorber Assembly
The rear coil-over shocks are responsible for supporting the majority of the operator's weight and maintaining the mower's rake angle. When the internal spring rate degrades or the preload is set incorrectly for the operator's mass, the suspension bottoms out or oscillates, causing the deck to dive and create an uneven cut. Replacing the assembly or adjusting the cam-collar restores the necessary force to counteract gravitational loads during operation.

Front Shock Absorber Assembly
The ISX 800 features independent front suspension; if the front springs are not adjusted to the proper notch for the deck weight, the front of the mower will 'nose-dive' when encountering terrain changes. This mechanical imbalance results in a 'wavy' cut pattern because the deck height is slave to the front caster arm position. Proper adjustment or replacement of fatigued front shocks is required to maintain a level cutting plane.

Suspension Adjustment Spanner Tool
Often the 'failure' is the inability to move the adjustment collar due to debris accumulation or lack of the correct mechanical advantage. A dedicated spanner allows the operator to rotate the preload collar on the shock body to compress the spring, which increases the spring's resistance to compression and stabilizes the mower deck height.
