NTC Temperature Sensor
The rattle is caused by the temperature sensor (NTC thermistor) migrating out of its friction-fit mounting sleeve. This occurs because of differential thermal expansion between the sensor housing and the kettle body during rapid heating cycles. Once the interference fit is compromised, the sensor becomes a free-floating mass that vibrates against the internal kettle wall, creating a metallic rattle that resonates through the vessel.
