PFA Release Liner (nFEP) Film

The PFA film is a consumable membrane that undergoes significant cyclic stress and suction (peel) forces during every layer lift. Micro-pinholes or localized thinning occur over time due to material fatigue or friction with the LCD screen, allowing resin to migrate via capillary action to the underside of the film. Replacing the film restores the liquid-tight integrity of the vat floor.

If resin is leaking specifically from the perimeter, the internal tensioning rings of the vat may be warped or have stripped threads. The vat relies on a 'sandwich' compression seal where the film acts as its own gasket; if the frame cannot apply uniform downward pressure, resin will bypass the mechanical seal regardless of film condition.

LCD Protective Film

While not the cause of the leak, this sacrificial layer is the primary barrier preventing the leaked resin from bonding to the expensive LCD polarizer. In forensic failure analysis, if resin has reached the underside of the FEP, this component has likely been contaminated and requires replacement to ensure optical clarity for future UV transmission.
