Ecobee Power Extender Kit (PEK)
The PEK utilizes a multiplexing circuit to provide power and control signals over a limited wire count. Failure of the internal diode bridge or switching logic prevents the thermostat from establishing a stable 24VAC return path (Common), triggering a system-wide error. Replacing the PEK restores the integrity of the multiplexed signal and ensures the thermostat receives the necessary current for its high-draw logic board.
