The most common failure mode is lithium-ion cell depletion or a BMS trip. The internal battery management system tracks cycle counts and cell voltage variance; if it detects a cell imbalance or excessive heat history, it will permanently lock out the charging circuit for safety. Replacing the battery assembly restores the storage capacity and the charging logic required to accept a current.

Internal capacitor failure or cable fatigue at the strain relief can result in zero voltage output. Field testing with a voltmeter should show a DC output between 21.6V and 26.1V; if the charger outputs no voltage or fluctuates significantly, it cannot provide the necessary 'wake-up' signal to the battery's charging port.

Mechanical misalignment or debris in the docking port prevents the metal pins from making a complete electrical circuit with the battery's contact pads. If the vacuum charges when the cable is plugged directly into the battery but not through the wall mount, the docking station's housing is either warped or the connector cable is improperly seated.
