Lithium-ion batteries have a finite cycle life of approximately 3-4 years before the internal Battery Management System (BMS) detects cell imbalance or high internal resistance. Once a threshold is met, the BMS permanently disables the charging circuit for safety, resulting in a vacuum that shows no charging lights or a red flashing LED. Replacing the entire battery assembly is the standard engineering fix for this model.

Dyson Power Adapter

The external AC adapter is prone to internal wire fatigue at the strain relief points from repeated docking/undocking. If the charger cannot output the required 30.45V DC, the vacuum will not initiate the charge sequence. This is a common secondary failure point when the battery itself is still healthy but receives no current.

Reinforced Metal Trigger Switch

The Dyson V10 is notorious for a plastic trigger hinge that snaps internally, as highlighted in Source 3. While this does not stop the battery from physically charging, it prevents the motor from engaging, often leading users to incorrectly report that the unit 'did not charge' or 'is dead' after being on the dock.
