Compass Module
The magnetometer utilizes a Hall-effect sensor to detect geomagnetic north; if the sensor's internal baseline bias is shifted by permanent magnetization or silicon-level failure, it will report values outside of the flight controller's allowable threshold. Replacing the module restores the drone's ability to distinguish the Earth's magnetic field from the aircraft's own electromagnetic footprint.

If the aircraft was stored near high-intensity magnets, the ferrous components in the airframe can become 'hard-iron' magnetized. An external degausser uses an alternating magnetic field to randomize these magnetic domains, effectively 'resetting' the local magnetic environment so the sensor can be successfully calibrated.
