Impact Driver Chuck/Collet Repair Kit
The impact driver's quick-release mechanism uses a steel ball bearing and a compression spring to lock hex-bits into the anvil. Constant percussive torque causes 'peening' or metal displacement where the ball contacts the bit or the anvil housing, eventually wedging the ball in place. Replacing the spring, sleeve, and ball bearing restores the necessary mechanical clearances for bit ejection.
