Motor, Switch, and Module Assembly
In brushless configurations, smoking indicates a catastrophic failure of the stator winding insulation or the MOSFETs within the control module due to thermal overload. Because the electronic commutator and the motor windings are electronically timed and often integrated to protect against vibration and debris, the entire internal power-train module must be replaced.
