NTC Temperature Sensor
The NTC thermistor monitors the heat of the thermoblock. If it fails to send a resistance change to the control board during the start-up heating phase, the machine assumes a heating fault and triggers the General Alarm for safety. This is the most common electronic component failure in the ECAM thermal circuit.

Thermoblock Heating Element
The thermoblock is the resistive heating mass. If the internal heating coil breaks (open circuit) or develops a high resistance due to age, the water cannot reach the operational temperature required for the brewing cycle, leading the firmware to timeout and display the General Alarm.

Transmission Micro-switch
General Alarms are frequently caused by the infuser carriage failing to reach its designated 'Home' or 'Top' position. If the micro-switch that detects the carriage's physical location is faulty or oxidized, the processor cannot confirm the mechanical state of the machine and halts operation.
