CR Touch Auto Leveling Sensor

The CR Touch utilizes a solenoid-activated metal probe that must move freely within its housing. If the probe becomes slightly bent or if the internal solenoid coil fails, the sensor cannot reach its deployed or stowed state, triggering an internal logic error (indicated by a flashing red LED). Since the internal components and metal pin are not user-serviceable, the entire sensor module must be replaced.

The wiring harness is subjected to continuous mechanical stress and vibration during the printing process. This often leads to fatigue at the crimped terminals or internal wire fractures, resulting in a 'failed' state where the sensor receives power but the MCU cannot receive the trigger signal or send deployment commands. A new shielded cable restores the signal path integrity between the sensor and the mainboard.

In cases where the sensor and cable are verified, the fault may lie in the dedicated 5-pin port on the mainboard. The optocoupler or signal processing circuit for the Z-probe can fail due to static discharge or a short in the sensor cable, preventing the board from interpreting the Z-trigger pulse even if the sensor is functioning mechanically.
