Nickel Plated Chain and Sprocket Kit

This kit replaces both the power transmission chain and the drive sprocket, which are the primary wear surfaces. Over time, the chain pins wear and the pitch increases while the sprocket teeth profile thins; when these dimensions diverge, the chain can no longer seat properly under load, causing it to skip. Replacing them as a matched set restores the original mechanical mesh and prevents immediate wear on the new components.

Chain Lubricant (20wt Non-Detergent Oil)

Stiff links caused by oxidation or debris buildup prevent the chain from conforming to the small diameter of the sprocket. As the stiff section reaches the sprocket, it fails to pivot, causing the chain to jump or skip over the teeth rather than engaging them. Application of specific non-detergent oil restores link articulation if the underlying metal has not suffered significant deformation.

One-Way Clutch Bearing

The one-way clutch (often a needle-roller type) resides inside the flywheel hub and allows the flywheel to spin freely during the recovery phase while engaging during the drive. If the internal rollers or springs are fouled by dust or cold temperatures, they may fail to lock onto the shaft instantly under high wattage, which can be perceived by the user as a 'skip' or 'slip' in the drive stroke.
