40 Amp J-Case Fuse (Orange)

The Dynamic Power Steering (DPS) system utilizes a high-draw electric motor that is protected by a dedicated 40A fuse. High-stress maneuvers or electrical surges frequently cause this fuse to fail as a sacrificial protection measure for the expensive DPS controller. Replacement of this fuse restores the circuit path necessary for the motor to engage.

Dynamic Power Steering (DPS) Actuator

Internal failure of the torque sensor or the brushless DC motor within the actuator housing results in a complete loss of assist. This component is the primary electromechanical driver of the steering system; if internal windings fail or the integrated controller detects a critical internal fault, the entire assembly must be replaced as it is a sealed unit.

Steering Column Half-Bushings

Specifically on 2022 model years, a manufacturing deficiency can result in missing or incorrectly seated steering column bushings. This causes mechanical binding and friction that the DPS motor cannot overcome, leading the system to trigger a 'derate' mode or failure code due to the excessive physical resistance in the steering geometry.
