The micro-filter uses a fine stainless steel mesh that can become blinded by a thin film of fats and proteins, significantly increasing the fluid resistance during the drain cycle. Drain Pump Cover

Bosch drain pumps are centrifugal and require a specific volumetric pressure to function; this pressure is maintained by a snap-in plastic cover. If this cover is cracked, warped, or not fully seated, the pump will cavitate and fail to move water, triggering the 'Filter Blocked' logic even if the filter is clean. This component is essential for the pump to create the necessary head pressure for evacuation.

Drain Pump Motor

If the filter and cover are verified, the failure mode shifts to the electromechanical drive. The drain pump impeller can suffer from 'play' in the shaft or debris trapped in the volute that physically slows the rotation speed. This synchronous motor is sensitive to torque variations; any mechanical resistance is interpreted by the control board as a blockage, resulting in the E22 fault code.
