The On-Screen Display is generated by the AT7456E monochrome overlay chip integrated directly onto the Flight Controller. Failure of this chip due to thermal stress or improper resource mapping after a firmware flash results in a loss of telemetry data in the video feed, or a total loss of video if the signal path through the FC is severed.

The M04 is a separate module that receives the processed video signal from the FC. If the VTX fails to initialize SmartAudio communication or enters a permanent 'Pit Mode' due to hardware failure, the goggles will receive no signal or only static, preventing the OSD from being displayed even if the FC is functioning.
