Motor and Gearbox Assembly
The transmission uses thermoplastic gears that eventually succumb to tooth shear or stripping under the high torque required for espresso grinding. Once the gear teeth lose their involute profile, the motor can no longer transmit rotational force to the outer burr carrier, causing a grinding noise or total drive failure. Replacing the full assembly ensures proper alignment between the motor pinion and the primary reduction gear which cannot be easily serviced individually.
