Filament Cutter Blade
The filament cutter is a mechanical lever system that must sever the filament inside the toolhead before retraction can begin. If the blade is dull, bent, or improperly seated, the filament stays physically connected to the melt zone, making it impossible for the AMS to pull the filament back through the PTFE tubing. This is the most common point of failure when the system attempts to unload filament at the end of a print or during a color change.

AMS First Stage Feeder
This assembly contains the motor and drive gears responsible for loading and unloading filament from the spool. Over time, the internal gears can accumulate debris or experience tooth wear, leading to a loss of traction. When the feeder cannot grip the filament with sufficient force to overcome the internal friction of the tubing system, the 'failed to pull back' error is triggered during the rewind phase.

PTFE Tube Guide Kit
The geometry of the filament path is critical for low-friction operation; a sharp bend radius where the PTFE tube enters the toolhead creates a high-friction pinch point. Replacing the tubing or adding a rigid guide prevents the tube from kinking or bending too sharply, ensuring that the axial force provided by the AMS motors is sufficient to move the filament through the entire reverse-Bowden system.
