The LiDAR unit houses the laser projector and camera sensor. Failure occurs when the laser diode output degrades or the CMOS sensor fails to distinguish the reflected pattern from the background bed texture, preventing the algorithm from calculating a valid Z-offset or flow rate.

USB-C Cable (Toolhead to AP Board)

This cable handles high-speed data transmission from the LiDAR to the printer's processor. Constant X-Y axis movement causes mechanical fatigue at the connector housing, leading to intermittent packet loss during the sensitive calibration phase, which triggers a timeout error.

The toolhead board serves as the electromechanical interface for all head components. Thermal cycling and vibrations can lead to micro-fractures in the female USB-C port's solder pads, resulting in a high-resistance connection that prevents the LiDAR unit from receiving stable voltage or transmitting clear signals.
