OLED burn-in is a permanent chemical degradation of the organic light-emitting layers. Because the pixels are self-emissive, static images cause uneven depletion of the organic material's ability to produce photons, resulting in localized luminance loss. Since the display is a laminated, non-serviceable unit, replacing the entire panel assembly is the only method to restore uniform pixel response.
