The keyboard utilizes a scanning matrix that relies on silver-ink traces which are susceptible to micro-fractures from thermal cycling near the GPU/CPU. A total failure to type typically indicates a break in the common ground or VCC traces on the Flat Flex Cable (FFC) or a failure within the internal membrane logic layers. Replacing the integrated palmrest assembly is the OEM-standard fix as the keyboard is plastic-riveted to the chassis and not individually serviceable without compromising structural rigidity.

The ZIF connector securing the keyboard ribbon can lose contact pressure due to mechanical creep in the plastic housing over time.
